There are big changes coming to Walker in Season 2. Mainly, star Lindsey Morgan who plays Micki Ramirez will be leaving the show. That’s right, Cordell Walker is going to lose his partner after a very short time together.
This change is going to be big for The CW production. Morgan stars opposite of Jared Padalecki who plays the title character, Walker. Without Ramirez by his side in the Texas Rangers, he might find himself in a tough predicament.
Morgan is leaving the show for personal reasons according to Deadline. There are several episodes this season that will feature the actress. Also, at this time there has been no word on when her last episode will air. Not to mention, there is a possibility that she returns as a guest star sometime in the future.
“After much thoughtful consideration and introspection,” Morgan began her statement. “I have made the incredibly difficult decision to step away from my role as Micki Ramirez on Walker for personal reasons, and I am eternally grateful to have the support of the producers, CBS Studios and The CW in allowing me to do so. The opportunity to play Micki has truly been a blessing as has working alongside the incredible cast and crew of this terrific series. Please know that I will continue to root for my TV family and wish them all the best.”
After spending six seasons as a regular on The 100 and now seemingly two seasons on Walker, this is also a big departure from The CW for Morgan. The show has seen success early on and this decision couldn’t have been easy for the actress to make. The studio seems to be in support of the decision as well.
CBS Studios, The CW, and More Show ‘Walker’ Star Support
As Lindsey Morgan made clear in her own statement, she has the full support of the network and the studio. It does not appear this is a relationship that has gone bad. There could be a number of reasons why Morgan needed to step away from the role. What is great to see is that she has been given support from the Walker community including the studio.
Star of the show, Jared Padalecki said, “Lindsey is a wonderful person, inside and out. I am proud of, and grateful for, her work on Walker. Moreover, I’m honored to consider her a friend.”
Showrunner Anna Fricker also put out a statement of support.
“It’s been a true pleasure to work with Lindsey. I admire her as a person and as a professional. She will of course be missed, but we truly support her and celebrate the impact she has made on this show.”
The CW and CBS Studios released a joint statement also declaring their support as well as leaving the door open for her character to return in the future. Walker Season 2 continues this fall. on The CW.
