The “Walker” premiere took home the title for the CW’s strongest season premiere in over 4 years the night that it dropped. In fact, 2.43 million total viewers tuned in to give the Texas Ranger reboot a chance. Another long-running series, “NCIS” also had a good track record of solid viewership on its own network. But, the keyword there is had. The “NCIS” series just got hit with a massive drop in viewership which might have something to do with the transition of one of the main cast out. (Mark Harmon’s Gibbs is no longer the team lead). That being said, “Walker” fans are left feeling nervous ahead of Micki’s character getting written out of the series.
Lindsey Morgan, who plays Micki, penned a long letter dropping the bombshell of her exit at the end of October. That left fans wondering, will the show kill off her Micki character in Season 2?
The Reasons Behind Lindsey Morgan’s Exit From ‘Walker’ Might Be the Saving Grace for the Character of Micki
To recap, here’s what Lindsey Morgan said about her exit from “Walker”:
“After much thoughtful consideration and introspection,” she starts. “I have made the incredibly difficult decision to step away from my role as Micki Ramirez on Walker for personal reasons, and I am eternally grateful to have the support of the producers, CBS Studios, and The CW in allowing me to do so. The opportunity to play Micki has truly been a blessing as has working alongside the incredible cast and crew of this terrific series. Please know that I will continue to root for my TV family and wish them all the best.”
Now, the exit is a bummer, of course, but the fact that it came as Morgan’s own decision is actually a good sign for fans. This means the decision came completely of her own volition as opposed to a creative decision made by the writers.
In other words, it looks like the network and studio never planned to write her out of the series in a permanent way. And what else does that mean? Well, the door potentially remains open for Morgan to return to “Walker” as a guest star in the future.
How Could the Show Write In a Temporary Absence for the Character?
So, we already mentioned that Micki’s death on “Walker” feels unlikely. On the off chance that it actually does end up happening, Morgan could still return to the show with her Micki character in the form of hallucinations or flashbacks. Of course, that’s less than ideal.
So, what other ways can the show write in this indefinite Micki hiatus? Well, the options seem to boil down to one of two scenarios. First, an injury that necessitates a long recovery, or second, a long-term undercover stint.
