Country music star Brad Paisley used his turn as guest host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Wednesday to team up with pal Carrie Underwood and rewrite some of his hit songs to better fit with life in 2020. Kimmel remains on summer vacation and is handing over his show nightly to different guest hosts.

Paisley reworked “Alcohol” and “Letter to Me” to add jokes about binge drinking and the dismantling of the U.S. Postal Service. Underwood reprised her turn in their duet “Remind Me,” which tried to recall life before social distancing. She also quipped that she had only stopped by to “save the show.”

The couple volleyed jokes and played off the chemistry they’ve built up hosting 11 Country Music Awards. Moreover, the fans seemed to enjoy the segment.

Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood performed Sept. 5 socially distant on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. Because of COVID-19 precautions, there was no audience, but it was livestreamed on the Opry’s YouTube channel.

The duo kicked things off with “Jesus Take The Wheel.” They also performed classics like “Let The Circle Be Unbroken” and “Remind Me.” Paisley joined in on “Whiskey Lullaby” and “Ghost On The Stereo.” The pair even performed a rendition of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn’s classic, “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.”
