Chip Gaines Opens Up About How His Wife Joanna Helps Calm Him Down & Focus on What’s Important
During his interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year, Chip reveals that his wife, Joanna, helps to calm him down and focus on what’s really important in life.
“I was like a dog chasing my tail in a circle, trying to be all the things for all the people and I can just, beyond the shadow of a doubt, quickly say [Joanna] grounded me,” Chip proclaims.
Chip also says that he was almost like the dog then saw the tennis ball or whatever and calmed down. “I was just such an idiot and I was just so anxious and so excitable.”
Chip also recalls how his father used to say that talking to him was like trying to get a drink of water at a fire hydrant. “I was always that kind of energy. It wasn’t pleasant and wasn’t cute. It was like anxiety-inducing, you know?”
The Fixer Upper star shares that Joanna just grounded him to where it was almost like when he died or he was on his deathbed, he’ll say that he owes his wife his life because she helped settle him down.
“Chip is always teaching if you’re not having fun, if you’re not enjoying and savoring these moments, then why are you doing it? Joanna chimes in. “And he also pushes me to do it.”
