“I’ve often been mistaken for Meryl Streep, although never on Oscar night.” Glenn Close has been keeping Americans entertained through films like “Fatal Attraction,” “101 Dalmations,” and “Dangerous Liaisons” since 1974.
She has won three Emmy Awards, three Tony Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and seven Oscar nominations, but no wins yet. Hence, the joking toward good friend Meryl Streep.
For someone who has been acting and entertaining for over 30 years, what has she been doing during quarantine?
Now that most productions of film and theater have come to a halt until at least 2021, actors and other entertainment workers have been trying to find new ways of entertaining themselves.
For Close, besides creating characters and dressing up as Cruella De Vil for Halloween, she’s taking some time to appreciate the outdoors.
Recently, Close appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” where he asks the actress what she’s been occupying her time with.
“You’re finding me in Montana. I’ve been here since February I have not gone anywhere except a little bit out of town where I can hike up into the national forest and its kept me sane.”
Close Uses Instagram to Chronicle Adventures
Close has been spending a great deal of her time outdoors since COVID-19 started. She has also been sharing a lot of that with her followers on Instagram.
One photo is of her laying down next to Pip, her greatest travel companion. She has one of her infamously humorous captions of what was going on in her head.
“Pip: My human says she’s ‘communing with Earth.’ That’s just fine, but I’m focused on communing with squirrels!”
Close and her dog have done everything from paddleboarding in the Yellowstone River to enjoying wine in a folding chair. One of the most recent trips led to a more fatal attraction. She ended up with a nasty cut on her leg.
Besides her exceptionally entertaining chronicles of the outdoors, she also helped to keep people entertained and laughing during the election process. She counted down the days to vote with a sign reminding people to vote. They were eccentric and captioned in her own humorous gift.
Today the movie “Hillbilly Elegy” was released on Netflix. It stars Close and Amy Adams.
