Luke Combs’ 2016 mash-up of classic rock favorites continues to rack in views. The country rendition starts as a Jack & Diane cover, blending into a range of hits. Viewers of the video get a front-row look from a Fort Worth, Texas concert. Behind the microphone, Combs’ rocks his trademark black PFG and grips two stacked red solo cups.

The performance starts as a twangy version of ‘Jack & Diane’, transforming into Springsteen’s ‘Glory Days’ and Petty’s ‘American Girl’ as Combs introduces his band. His drummer then takes it full circle, bringing it back to Jack & Diane. Audience members cheer and sing along, wildly impressed with the hit mashup.

Comments continue to roll in as the years go by. One user commented on the incredible growth of the country singer. In just two years, he went from a singer at intimate concerts in local bars to the country star that he continues to grow into. They write a comparison between years: “2016- Luke Combs is barely known, performing at local bars and fairs. 2018- Luke Combs is arguably the most popular country singer in the world, selling out arenas in less than an hour.”

Another commented earlier this year writing, “Who’s still watching this in 2020?” The Youtube video has nearly 4 thousand thumbs-up ‘likes’ and well over a half a million views.

Luke Combs’ Growth Over The Years

Combs, now 30 years old, has grown immensely in the almost four years since this classic cover. His classic PFG look, which is seen in the 2016 video, has since transformed into a real collaboration with the sportswear company. In 2018, Luke Combs officially partnered with Columbia Sportswear.

The singer from North Carolina is now a multi-platinum, ACM, CMA, CMT, and Billboard Music Award-winning artist. His 2019 album, “What You See Is What You Get” broke Taylor Swift’s record of 24 weeks at #1 on the Top Country Albums chart; The album has spent 25 weeks at number one, his website reports.

After recently marrying Nicole Hocking in August, Combs now looks towards the upcoming 2020 Country Music Awards. He is nominated for six awards, two being for Song Of The Year. Combs announced the news on Tuesday, thanking his wife and fans, saying “None of this is possible without any of you.”

His total of 6 nominations makes Combs the second most nominated singer this year, following Miranda Lambert, who received seven nominations.

Luke Combs will release a deluxe album of What You See Is What You Get on October 23rd. The album will feature five new songs.
