Between her firetruck red Gucci jumper and her electric performance on stage, artist Miley Cyrus lit the night on fire at Lollapalooza. In the past, Cyrus’ hits have been more pop, hip-hop and even country-oriented. Since the release of her most recent album, Plastic Hearts, in November 2020, Cyrus has solidified her new identity for herself in the music industry. The 28-year-old first broke into the rock genre when paid homage to legendary artist Blondie with a rendition of “Heart of Glass.”

In February, during her half-time performance at the Super Bowl, Miley Cyrus kept up with her tribute to past female rockstars with a mash-up of her song, “Midnight Sky” with Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen.”

Now, at her latest performance at the music festival, Lollapalooza, Cyrus showed just how versatile an artist she was. Recently, she posted a warped, black-and-white video of herself performing the first song on her new album, “What the F– Do I Know.” Wearing dark shades, styled mullet and tall, studded boots, no one could take their eyes off the star as she dominated the stage. Even back when she was Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus always knew how to put on a good show.

Among Miley Cyrus’ Instagram followers is the network, MTV, who commented, “this made me feel things.” Other fans pleaded for the star to share the entire fiery performance for the unlucky souls that couldn’t see it in person.

Miley Cyrus Explains Meaning Behind Hit Song

Prior to her latest album’s release, Miley Cyrus was in the middle of a divorce with her husband, Liam Hemsworth. Like many songwriters, this gave the star the chance to express herself through her music. This resulted in the creation of “What the F– Do I Know.”

In fact, she even discussed the songwriting experience during her divorce on The Howard Stern Show with its host. During the interview, Cyrus likened the process to “catching a firefly in a jar“–meaning that she caught a fleeting feeling that she could remember and relate to forever.

“When I write a song, that’s what I feel like. Cause I feel like I’m capturing something that is free and that I maybe only feel for a second,” Miley Cyrus told Howard Stern. “A record is all of these mason jars filled with something that lights up, that you catch something that’s kind of magical for a moment, but it doesn’t have to be you all the time.”

Regarding the song, “What the F– Do I Know,” Cyrus shared that she felt she didn’t miss her ex-husband in that moment.

“Sometimes you miss people more than others, and sometimes, things get easier,” she said. “Time kind of heals all, but that was at a time where I felt really strong. And then some days I don’t.”
