Singer and songwriter Paul McCartney notably created the band’s Get Back in mere seconds in Disney+’s new Beatles documentary. This proves why he is one of the most iconic musicians in the industry.
Author Ted Gioia took to his Twitter account on Sunday (November 28th) to share his thoughts about the new documentary and what Paul McCartney did that shocked him. “I’ve never seen anything like this on film before,” the author declared. “Paul really has nothing at the 30 second mark. But 45 seconds later, he’s got the makings of a hit single.”
Fans of Gioia sounded off about Paul McCartney’s talent being put on display in the new documentary. “This extraordinary film reveals just how much of a creative nexus Paul was at this point, he’s central to everything,” one fan wrote. Another fan went on to add, “It’s amazing isn’t it? I’ve been watching it on repeat for hours.”
The Beatles: Get Back follows The Beatles and features in-studio footage, which was shot in early 1969 for the 1970 feature film Let It Be. The archived footage featured John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney. Linda McCartney and Yoko Ono also made appearances in the documentary, as well as Maureen Starkey, Michael Lindsay-Hogg, Bill Preston, and Geoff Emerick.
The documentary made its debut earlier this week and is available on Disney+.
Paul McCartney Sets the Record Straight About The Beatles Breakup
During a recent interview with NPR, Paul McCartney opened up about the reason behind The Beatles infamous split. “It always looked like I broke up The Beatles, and that wasn’t the case.”
Paul McCartney then spoke about the subsequent press coverage that created a narrative that he was the instigator of the breakup.
“I kind of bought into that a little bit. And although I knew it wasn’t true. It affected me enough for me to just be unsure of myself.”
While speaking about the footage that surfaced on Get Back, Paul McCartney stated that he and his famous bandmates were just goofing off and everyone was behaving very normally and in a friendly manner. “The films really great for me. Because I see me and John [Lennon] messing around pretending to be ventriloquists instead of being sensible and singing the song.”
In regards to what really went down with The Beatles breakup, Paul McCartney said he actually sent out a questionnaire that asked various questions about the band after his first album came out.
“And there was something like, ‘Will The Beatles’ get back together?’ And I sort of said, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ It was something like that. And then that came as it does, blown up into the big headline. ‘Paul says The Beatles finished!’ Or whatever.”
