If there’s been one constant throughout the long history of “The Voice,” it’s been Blake Shelton and his hilarious banter, his social media presence, and his fearless dance moves.
Beyond just energetically pointing to himself when he wants a contestant to pick him, Shelton has a number of hilarious trademarks on “The Voice.” Surely, that comes naturally after spending 10 years as a coach on the show.
A History Of Blake Shelton’s Dances On The Show
The most recent episode of “The Voice” was an anniversary episode chronicling each current contestant’s journey so far. It also happened to be the 10-year anniversary since the show premiered back in late April of 2011.
As the show took viewers on a trip down “The Voice” memory lane, Blake Shelton was a huge part of that. Specifically, viewers got a look at how Shelton breaks it down on the dance floor. “Blake has dance moves? No. We’re not calling those dance moves,” said John Legend during yesterday’s episode.
Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson went into even greater detail trying to understand the process that is Shelton’s dancing. “Shufflin’ Shelton — his shoulders go up and his face gets really gross. I don’t know what it is. I don’t know what’s happening there. But it’s funny!”
In a recent promotional video, Blake Shelton danced along to Snoop Dogg’s classic hit, “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” Snoop Dogg was actually a Mega Mentor on the show. The two showed up in matching outfits and Shelton did what he thought was him dropping it likes it’s hot.
In 2016, Miley Cyrus was one of the coaches on the singing show. In a clip from Entertainment Tonight, Cyrus challenged Shelton to a little jig dance competition. Meanwhile, Adam Levine said, “What the hell is happening?”
Blake Shelton is the last remaining original coach from “The Voice.” The original group of judges were Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green. Levine stepped away from his role recently in May 2019. The two were like an old married couple on the show. They would constantly bicker and taunt each other, but Levine would then go sit in Shelton’s lap adoringly.
Along the way the show has had amazing stars like Usher, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, Miley Cyrus, Shakira, Alicia Keys, Pharrell Williams, and Jennifer Hudson.
‘The Voice’ Love Story
Besides a lot of laughter and victories (Shelton has had seven of his artists win the show), he also happened to meet his future wife, Gwen Stefani, on “The Voice.” Over the years, others on “The Voice” stage have found love with fellow contestants or even proposed to their partners on the stage.
The couple announced they were engaged in October of 2020 with an Instagram photo. The two are currently planning a wedding ceremony, which they have said will be mostly family. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused them to put a hold on the ceremony.
Even with the laughing, singing, and bromances, Blake Shelton is very clear about what the best part of being a coach on the show has been for the past 10 years.
“People ask me all the time, ‘What’s the greatest thing that’s happened to you since you’ve been on ‘The Voice?’ That’s a no-brainer, right? I met my fiancée here,” Shelton said, according to Entertainment Tonight.
