After last week’s fall on stage, The Voice contestant Wendy Moten proved that nothing can keep her down. Even with a busted elbow and fractured wrist, Moten stood tall during her performance of Dolly Parton’s hit “Jolene,” further assuring Team Blake that she belonged in the Top 10.

Moten appeared on stage in a dazzling emerald and gold outfit. Smartly, her costume designer gave her long, sparkling sleeves that covered her arm with the cast, effectively camouflaging the injury. Even without the clever outfit choice, The Voice contestant would have kept the attention of her audience by the sheer power and projection of her voice.

As soon as Moten hit that first note, it was clear that she had command over the entire room. With only a guitarist to accompany her, this was no small task. On top of this challenge, covering such a popular song can act as a double-edged sword for vocalists on the show because so many people know and love the original version. And with Dolly Parton as the original artist, Moten had to be sure that her voice was just as sultry and smooth.

Listen to her performance below.

Thankfully, she managed to walk the fine line between honoring the original melody and adding her own flair. Even in her stationary position, The Voice contestant portrayed such intense emotion solely through the sound of her voice.

After her performance, she earned glowing reviews from The Voice judges, including her own coach, Blake Shelton. Even though tonight’s episode isn’t yet over, there’s a good chance that Moten will be making it through to the next round.

‘The Voice’ Contestant Continues to Recovery After Last Week’s Accident

Following her group performance with the remaining Team Blake contestants and their coach, Moten took a tumble over a speaker on stage. While trying to exit, she tripped over the equipment and landed squarely on her arm. Fortunately, the stage crew and her team were there to help her off the stage. Once safely behind the set, she received the care she needed. But at the time of the spill, The Voice fans worried about the talented vocalist.

After taking a moment to recover, Moten joined The Voice host Carson Daly to assure fans that she was still in one piece.

“I’m OK, I’m a little bruised, but you know what? I’m still ready to go!” she shared.

Shelton, too, spoke about Moten’s condition while promoting his team to The Voice viewers.

“Wendy’s okay, don’t worry anybody. Hurt her elbow a little bit. I think she’s going to be fine,” the country star said.

Although her injuries were a bit more intense than they had first thought, Moten has carried on without hesitation.
