The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson performed a stunning rendition of her hit “Since You’ve Been Gone.”
During a recent episode of her The Kelly Clarkson Show talk show, she teamed up with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for a duet.
Their segment started with Martin holding an acoustic guitar. Clarkson told him that one of her favorite songs of all time is his “oldie” “Green Eyes.” Although he is a mega pop star, two unlikely fellow artists inspired the song. Johnny Cash and Hank Williams helped motivate him to create the song to also appease his father.
They performed his song before bringing up their shared collaborator, Max Martin. He co-wrote Clarkson’s hit and Martin began playing it. Before long, they were trading off riffs. The audience went wild. This also marked the first season that a live studio audience returned to her show.

‘The Voice’ Upcoming Season
The Voice officially returns to NBC on September 20. Clarkson is back in the iconic red coaching chair. Blake Shelton and John Legend will return to the show. This marks Clarkson’s eighth season, Shelton’s 21st, and Legend’s sixth. Additionally, Shelton has won eight times, Clarkson has won three times, and Legend has won once.
This season, a new coach is joining the team, pop superstar Ariana Grande. She is replacing Nick Jonas as he is on tour with the Jonas Brothers for their Remember This Tour. Gwen Stefani held the spot before him but had to leave due to her Las Vegas residency.
Before he left, Jonas gave Grande one piece of advice.
“Ariana, as we all know, is one of the best singers in the game,” he said. “And she’s gonna be an incredible coach. I think the only advice I would give is just not to trust any one of you, any word you say … She’ll be great.”
The noise level of the live audience has certainly seen an increase since the “Positions” singer joined.
“You know, I’ve seen a lot of different coaches over the years join this panel,” Shelton said. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard a reaction quite like the reaction that we get when Ariana walks in here from our live studio audience. My ears are still ringing from when she walked out and introduced herself to the crowd. It’s unbelievable.”
The coaches meshed together extremely well. And apparently, Grande is a MASSIVE fan of the show.
“You can tell she’s been a fan of the show for a long time,” he added. “She’s awesome behind the scenes, in the hallway, in the dressing rooms, in the meetings.”
Kelly Clarkson told Jimmy Fallon that the two have been gelling. She also revealed that the new The Voice coach prioritizes vocal health.
“I love her. She is so funny. Like very witty,” she said. When Grande comes out, earplugs are undoubtedly needed. “It is literally like BTS has entered the building.”
