‘Wedding Crashers’ Sequel in the Works, Filming To Begin in August with Original Cast

It has been more than 15 years since Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson had audiences laughing along with their antics in “Wedding Crashers.”

The film about two friends who, well crash weddings and eventually find love, was a major success. And according to DailyMail, a sequel to the hilarious 2005 comedy is now in the works. Unsurprisingly, the new film’s title is “Wedding Crashers 2.”

Making things even better is the news that Vaughn and Wilson will reprise their roles from the first film in the sequel. Joining them in the cast will also be two other returning stars from the first film. These stars are Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher.

According to IMDb.com, Vaughn played Jeremy Grey. He crashed weddings alongside Wilson’s character John Beckwith. McAdams played Claire Cleary, the character with whom John falls in love. Fisher played the wild and funny Gloria Cleary.

Whether Other Stars Will Return for Sequel Is Not Known

As fans of the original “Wedding Crashers” will know, Vaughn, Wilson, McAdams, and Fisher were not the only high-profile actors who appeared in that hit film. There was also Will Ferrell and Bradley Cooper, as well as Christopher Walken and Jane Seymour. It is not known if Ferrell, Cooper, Walken, or Seymour will return for the sequel.

The sequel is set to film in Puerto Rico. Filming is scheduled to begin in August.

The DailyMail report also stated that “it is believed” two of the brains behind the television show “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” will write the “Wedding Crashers 2” screenplay. They are Evan Susser and Van Robichaux and they will work with filmmaker Rob McKittrick on the project. Further, the new film will be made by HBOMax.

‘Wedding Crashers’ Isn’t the Only Beloved Film Getting a Sequel

Sequels are frequent occurrences in Hollywood these days. And, some draw more excitement than others. There will certainly be a lot of excitement for “Wedding Crashers 2.”

Another beloved film – this one from the 1990s – is also expected to get a sequel in the near future. That film is the popular “Hocus Pocus” movie. It starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. They played the witch trio of the Sanderson sisters in the film.

Midler confirmed that the three actresses had agreed to the participate in the sequel last fall.

“They want to make a movie, they’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes,” Midler she told to Good Day New York. “I’m game, I’m totally game.”
