Sometimes, people need an escape from their lives. Vanna White explained that game shows like Wheel of Fortune are the perfect getaway.

Even though Wheel of Fortune episodes are close to thirty minutes long, it’s the perfect amount of time to become completely invested in a game and escape reality.

Vanna White on the Beauty of Game Shows

Vanna White was featured as a guest on Drew Barrymore’s Show in January. She explained how Wheel of Fortune fans watch for more than just entertainment.

Barrymore starts by revealing what game shows meant to her growing up.

“It’s funny, but it’s true. I’ve watched you my whole life, and game shows to me were extremely comforting,” reveals host Drew Barrymore. “They were almost like medicine to me when I was growing up because I had such a kind of unorthodox life, they just made me feel a part of the conscious collective, and I loved watching them, and you were such a safe spot for me.”

Wheel of Fortune cover girl Vanna White notes that the show is perfect for the whole family to enjoy. The Wheel of Fortune is serving only good vibes!

“You know, the thing about game shows, even today, decades later, it’s still a great time for your family to be together, you know, it’s an escape,” said White. “Right? There’s no drama. You see people win. It’s happy. It’s a good thing.”

Wheel of Fortune Co-Hosts Get Nostalgic

While others find an escape in the broadcast, Vanna White and Pat Sajak have happily found employment doing what they love. Together the co-hosting duo has eased fans for decades.

“I remember when I first started, and I turned to Pat in the makeup chair, and I said, “I wonder where we’ll be in ten years, and it’s been 38. He’s my buddy. It’s so funny. He’s like my work husband, I guess you would say.”

The thought of an escape was especially comforting after a tough 2020. While the world seemed to be falling apart, Vanna White and Pat Sajak were dressed to the nines to renew a sense of normalcy. They did their jobs so we could check out for a bit and invest our attention into the magical wheel, living vicariously through the contestants.

The dynamic duo will continue to grace the screens of Wheel of Fortune fans everywhere until their contract is up in 2022. Who will be the next Vanna White?
