You know that saying “so beautiful that it hurts?” Maggie Sajak, daughter of Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak, has just dropped a new selfie on Instagram. We have one word: Ouch.
Dressed in a dainty, ruffled blue shirt and matching denim pants, Maggie poses effortlessly with her hair blowing and arms clasped behind her back. In her caption, she writes, “No wind machines were harmed in the making of this photo.”
While the 26-year-old may look the part, Maggie isn’t pursuing modeling outside of her Instagram. However, she is turning heads through her work as a country music singer and songwriter.
‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Inspires Daughter’s Music
When host of Wheel of Fortune Pat Sajak and his wife Lesly Brown first had Maggie, they probably didn’t imagine that she would become a fledging country star in her twenties. However, the stars began to align when Maggie learned to play the guitar at age 12 and released her first single “First Kiss” at 16. A couple of Maggie’s songs are even featured in the soundtracks for the series Sweet Home Alabama and Our Wild Hearts.
However, without her father hosting Wheel of Fortune, Maggie may have never ventured into the music industry. In an interview with Sounds like Nashville, Maggie shared her inspiration for her music and professional aspirations.
“My dad has had a really long-lasting career, so he is definitely a great example for me as I pursue my own career,” Maggie said. “I’ve seen the positive impact of his work on so many fans and it’s really inspiring. He’s also been able to balance his work and family life really well, which I think is important.”
Maggie Sajak’s Love for Country Music
Without any obvious pull to country music at home, many wonder what made Maggie pursue the genre. Surprisingly, there was no complicated or poetic story—just sheer love for the music and its stars. Some of Maggie’s favorite artists include Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette and Emmylou Harris.
“Country music has always been my favorite genre because of the stories that the songs tell. There have been so many times I’ve heard a country song and felt like it was explaining my own situation. Now that I’m more involved in the country world, I can see that it’s like a little family, and I’m so happy to be a part of that community,” Maggie shared.
In sharing the inspiration for her hit single, “Wild Boy,” Maggie explained, “‘Wild Boy’ is about that one guy that most girls will encounter at some point, who is intoxicating and tough to get off your mind. Even though the song is about a guy, it really focuses on the way a girl deals with the situation and how she decides whether or not to put her heart on the line.”
