‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Pat Sajak’s Daughter Maggie Reacts to Mike Richards ‘Jeopardy!’ Permanent Host Announcement

by Quentin Blount

It only makes sense that the stars of Wheel of Fortune are welcoming new Jeopardy! host Mike Richards on social media.

Of course, Pat Sajak and Vanna White are the stars of Wheel of Fortune. Sajak has been hosting the popular game show for an incredible four decades or in other words, since 1981. So, there is no doubt that Sajak knows what it takes to be a great game show host. It was only right that he was one of the first to welcome new Jeopardy! host Mike Richards.

“I want to welcome Mike Richards to @Jeopardy,” Sajak wrote in a Twitter post on Wednesday. “He thinks I’m a really good host, so he is obviously a man of taste and good judgment. (A reminder to Mike that the Game Show Host Association meets on Wednesdays at the Oxnard iHop.)”

Not long after that, Sajak’s daughter Maggie, also took a moment to welcome Richards to Jeopardy!. Even though Maggie isn’t a regular on Wheel of Fortune, fans of the show can recall that she did make an appearance back in 2019 after her father had to leave the show for a little while because of medical reasons. Vanna White took over Sajak’s hosting duties. Meanwhile, Maggie stepped up to the plate to fill in for Vanna White’s role as the co-hostess and letter-turner.

“Congrats, Mike!!!” Maggie Sajak wrote on Twitter.

Mike Richards Serves as Executive Producer of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Jeopardy!’

If you are a fan of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy!, then you probably know by now that the great Alex Trebek passed away late last year. Since then, the show has been utilizing several celebrity guest hosts in two-week stints while they search for a permanent host. However, it turns out that the permanent host was right under their nose the whole time.

Mike Richards serves as the executive producer of both Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!. After Trebek’s tragic death, Richards appeared at the start of the November 9, 2020 episode to pay tribute to him. He then was the first to serve as a guest host of the show, which he did for two weeks.

It seems like talks between Jeopardy! and Richards have been heating up for weeks. And on Wednesday, the show announced that he will be taking the place of Alex Trebek as the new host of the daily show. Not only that, but actress Mayim Bialik — known for her role on The Big Bang Theory — will be hosting future Jeopardy! spin-off specials.

It’s certainly a new era and an exciting time for game show fans. But we can rest easy at night knowing that we still have the same comfort of Pat Sajak and Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune.
