Recently, the 2021 Daytime Emmy nominations were just announced, with Alex Trebek and Pat Sajak earning nods. Moreover, the late host of “Jeopardy!” is up for Outstanding Game Show Host alongside Wayne Brady, Steve Harvey, Alfonso Ribeiro, and also Pat Sajak. Surprisingly, “Jeopardy!” was not nominated for Outstanding Game Show.
Earlier on Tuesday, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences revealed nominees for the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The awards show will later air on June 25 on CBS and Paramount+.
Additionally, the Daytime Children’s Programming and Animation Emmy Awards will be presented on July 17, and the Daytime Lifestyle Programming Emmy Awards follow the next day. Those nominations are also set to come out on June 28.

Alex Trebek’s Posthumous Emmy Nomination
Alex Trebek is currently up for the Outstanding Game Show Host Award but is up against stiff competition. He’ll be going against Wayne Brady from “Let’s Make a Deal,” Steve Harvey from “Family Feud,” Alfonso Ribeiro in “Catch 21,” and Pat Sajak from “Wheel of Fortune.” The late quiz show host won the category in 2019 and 2020.
For nearly 40 years, Alex Trebek hosted the game show and quickly became the beloved host millions tuned in nightly to watch. Sadly, he battled stage for pancreatic cancer for nearly 18 months before succumbing to the disease. He passed away at 80-years-old.
As for Pat Sajak, this will mark his 20th Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Game Show host. He has taken the Emmy home three times throughout his career. After spending more than 35 years at the helm of the wheel, the longtime host is reportedly thinking about taking a step back from the gig.
“I’m not getting any younger. A couple of years,” Sajak said on GMA in 2019. “You know what I’m really sensitive about? I’d rather leave a couple years too early than a couple years too late. … I don’t have a date in mind, but two, three [years], something like that.”
Sajak believed that both him and Vanna White will probably leave the show together at some point. He continued, “[We will] probably walk off into the sunset at the same time.” However, White, 64, chimed in to say that their joint-retirement wouldn’t be “anytime soon.”
