Sabrina The Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart broke records on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune with her winnings.
Sunday, October 17th, Melissa Joan Hart won a whopping $1,039,800 dollars for charity on Wheel of Fortune. She played against Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s Titus Burgess. Vanna White and Pat Sajak looked over in amazement as Hart became the first celebrity to obtain the million-dollar prize and the fourth ever contestant to win the prize. Her winning phrase? Bran muffins.
Since the show began in 1975, only four people have won the nine-figure prize, including this week’s Melissa Joan Hart. In May of 2013, Autumn Erhard won $1,030,340. In 2008, Michelle Loewenstein won $1,026,080 and Sarah Manchester won $1,017,490.
Hart spoke with Maggie Sajak regarding her big day. The actress shares, “Vanna White’s face turned white. Vanna looked at me and was like, ‘You got it! You got it!’ I hit the roof. She hit the roof.
The No Good Nick actress says it was nothing but pure luck. She confesses, “I would like to say witchcraft was involved. But to be honest, I prayed a lot more than any kind of sorcery. I literally prayed every round, especially that winning round. I’d close my eyes and say, ‘God, give me focus and calm and let me just read these letters.'”
Hart played for charity Young Villages and didn’t tell them the amount that she won. She added that she wanted them to watch live to see how much she really won. Young Villages is a nonprofit that works with the foster care system and reunites foster kids and their families.
Melissa Joan Hart on Sabrina The Teenage Witch
Sabrina The Teenage Witch debuted in 1996 on ABC. Hart acted alongside Beth Broderick, Caroline Rhea, Nate Richert, and Nick Backay.
Perhaps Melissa Joan Hart channeled her witchcraft days to manifest this win. Recently, Hart delved into her biggest confessions and juicy behind-the-scenes revelations in honor of the show’s 25th anniversary. Hart shared her own reunited experience with the cast. She shares, “Right before the pandemic hit, I was able to put together a quick reunion for the crew, where we took over a coffee shop, had some appetizers, had some drinks. The cast, even though we’re all in our 40s now, acted like we were still the kids on set and decided to go out all night as if we were still in our 20s. It was funny being back in that place, we all kind of reverted back to our old roles.”
Unfortunately, Hart denied all rumors that the show is rebooting. Although she enjoyed her time on the show, she says a new reboot would be over-critiqued and she doesn’t really want to play Sabrina again anyways.
