‘Wheel of Fortune’ Star Vanna White Lets Out What Her Binge Habits Were Over Holidays

by Suzanne Halliburton

Vanna White, I’d like to solve the puzzle. Wait, you’re telling me the iconic letter turner on the game show “Wheel of Fortune” watches something else than her own show?

White recently told TV Insider she did a lot of binge-watching during her Christmas vacation away from the filming of Wheel with host Pat Sajak.

What was on the top of the Vanna White list?

Queen’s Gambit. Netflix dropped the show in its lineup in October. Vanna White is in good company. A lot of folks needed a great escape from the real world and selected the show. After all, it’s a unique topic. Set in the 1950s through the 60s, the show follows an orphaned female chess prodigy, who also struggles with alcohol and drug issues.

Vanna White Loves To Watch Real Estate Shows

What else was in the Vanna White cue? Anything on HGTV, she says. So that’s a dash of redecorating reality. “There’s some good stuff on,” White told TV Insider.

Wonder if the ageless Vanna White loves the Property Brothers. After all, Drew Scott was decorating his honeymoon home. Is she a fan of “Love It or List It?” Could she like the shows about flipping houses? How about House Hunters. Plus, HGTV did a behind-the-scenes show on how the White House decorated for the holidays.

White is an admitted lover of real estate. Her long-time partner is John Davidson, a builder and developer. They listed a home for rent last year. The rental was $20,000 a month. We’re assuming Vanna White can afford everything she sees on HGTV.

White also said she’d watch the Christmas classics. Who can avoid “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Or “Elf” or “Home Alone.” White said they all were on her binge list.

How About Some More Facts About Our Favorite Letter Turner

In the same interview, Vanna White also revealed that she never wears a dress twice on “Wheel of Fortune.” That’s an incredible detail. White is known for her fashion. She estimated she’s worn more than 7,000 different outfits. Somebody did a lot of shopping. White says designers send her clothes for the show. She wears the outfit, then sends back the clothes.

Vanna White will be 64 next month. Most of her adult life is tied to Wheel of Fortune. She’s been the show’s letter turner and de facto hostess since 1982. In 2013, the Guinness Book of World Records said White broke the standard for most claps. At that point eight years ago, White had clapped an estimated 3,480,864 times. White also filled in for Pat Sajak when Sajak was sidelined with health issues in 2019.

Most folks probably don’t know that White actually competed on a game show. That was back in 1980, when she was one of the first four contestants called to compete in the “Price is Right.” She didn’t make it to the stage.
