Leave it to fans of “Wicked Tuna” to debate which captain would be the best to snag a few tunas with. Every captain has a different style and approach. Some are a little stricter than others. But then again, when you’re tasked with keeping a crew safe and bringing in a huge haul of fish, you have to be.

Recently, a few Reddit users posed the question: Which fishing captain would be the most fun to work for?

“Marciano and Tyler are my favorite captains but I think for me it would be TJ. He treats his deckhands with respect, has a sense of humor, a nice boat and never really gets despondent when things don’t go his way,” one user wrote.

He added, “If I had to work with Paul it would probably end bad, really bad.”

Being a deckhand is no easy gig either. If you’re going to entrust your life and safety with someone, there better be a sense of respect.

Another Reddit user added some extra reasoning behind their choice “Wicked Tuna” captain:

“I like the hard merch a lot, I bet that’s where the most laughter is and I think Dave Marciano is a genuinely good guy. But they seem to have a lot of bad luck. Also not exactly one the most luxurious boats,” explains the Redditor.

Marciano is a captain who never expected to find success with “Wicked Tuna.” However, the Gloucester man expressed major gratitude for the success the show brought to him. Fans of the show can tell he puts his whole heart into fishing.

Additionally, fans agreed the captain would be pleasant to work with. Another fan shared a more technical reason for wanting to work with their choice “Wicked Tuna” star.

“A lot of people don’t like Cap’n Dave, but he makes fishing into a science. Talking about log books, when he caught, what bait, what tide, etc.”

Whatever the case, each one of the captains have their own unique way of running their vessel.

“Wicked Tuna” Stars Discuss Rough Seas

While fans are curious about the fun adventures they could have with the various sea captains, the “Wicked Tuna” stars discussed dealing with some more serious aspects of the fishing life.

The captains don’t take danger lightly. But they do tend to fish in dangerous seas because the fishing loads intensify.

“We like to fish on temperature breaks because the fish will follow the change,” says the captain. “But the seas build a whole lot quicker. Seas like this, when you hook a fish, it just makes it that much tougher to fight them.”

Risking it all, however, is just part of the job.
