Will Ferrell Crashing Ryan Reynolds’ New Singing Video Proves That He’s Still One of the Funniest Guys Around

by Jonathan Howard

Right now, Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell are filming a holiday special. The musical will feature both actors in starring roles. Recently they took a break from filming to participate in a popular TikTok trend.

The “Grace Kelly” challenge is based on the song of the same name by Mika. It is an acapella-style singing challenge and honestly, the two actors killed it.

Reynolds got things going with the first few parts. Just a simple layering of his own vocals at different ranges to get a harmonizing effect. Each new layer is added as he sings the lyrics. Starting at a low tone, then moving up in octaves. Finally, Will Ferrell pops in and provides a nice falsetto to the video.

Late to the Grace Kelly trend but way early for our movie musical. I ❤️ duets. (And Mika)

While the song the challenge is based on was released in 2007, it has found new popularity on the short video platform. The chorus, “I could be brown, I could be blue I could be violet sky/I could be hurtful, I could be purple, I could be anything you like,” is catchy and admittedly addicting. This is not the only singing challenge to come to the platform, of course, but it is one of the better more appealing ones.

Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds are going to star in the holiday musical, Spirited which will hit theaters this holiday season. It has been a long time coming after being announced in 2019. Now, it looks like the two costars are having fun and exercising their singing voices while not filming. A great surprise for fans of both actors.

Will Ferrell Recreates Holiday Classic

The biggest appeal of the upcoming movie, Spirited, is that it is a new take on the classic, A Christmas Carol. What we know right now about the movie is that Ryan Reynolds is going to play Ebeneezer Scrooge. The hateful, money-grubbing businessman is going to have quite the personality with the Deadpool actor in the role.

Alongside Reynolds, Will Ferrell will play the Ghost of Christmas Present. As one of the most boisterous figures in past retellings of the story, Ferrell is sure to bring a great performance to the role. Other names confirmed for the movie include Octavia Spencer and Sunita Mani. Mani will be the Ghost of Christmas Past.

With such a beloved story, this is going to have to be done right. Traditionalists likely won’t like it, however, that doesn’t mean it won’t be a good and unique story. Besides, with Will Ferrell taking part, it is bound to be good. This will be a new take on an old classic, so there is no telling what could happen.
