The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is Here: Everything to Know

On Thursday (October 21st), U.S.-based car manufacturing brand GMC announced more details about the upcoming 2022 Sierra 1500. The company declared the upcoming year’s Sierra is the “most advanced and luxurious” Sierra ever. 

In its latest press release, GMC stated that the Sierra lineup is led by the new Sierra Denali Ultimate Trim. The company described the trim as the most advanced and luxuriously appointed Denali model ever and the most advanced and luxurious pickup in its class. The Ultimate trim is accompanied by the first-ever Sierra AT4X. This vehicle is described as a new “peak” of premium off-road performance. It also comes with “serious capability and uncompromising refinements.” 

While sharing more details about the Sierra lineup, Duncan Aldred, Global Vice President of GMC and Buick, explains that the Sierra’s “momentum” is continuing to accelerate. The vehicle is claimed to be the fastest-growing modern in the segment. “WIth the 2022 Sierra, GMC is offering customers more advanced technologies, upscale appointments, and increased capability across the Sierra lineup.”

GMC further revealed that base pricing for each of the 2022 Sierra trims will be available at reservation. MSRP, including destination charge, for Denali Ultimate is $80,395, AT4X is $74,995, Denali is $61,295, AT4 is $60,995, SLT is $50,895, Elevation is $45,495, SLE $43,895 and Sierra Pro is $32,495.

What Are the Features for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

GMC also revealed that the 2022 Sierra features an “elevated” exterior design and all-new, expressive interiors. It will also have enhanced technology integration, including a large, 13.4-inch-diagonal touchscreen with Google built-in compatibility.

The vehicles will have a “refreshed” exterior that features a new grille and a revised headlamp design. Expressive lighting animation when approaching, starting, or walking away from the vehicle is a feature as well. 

The 2022 Sierra does come with Google built-in. The Sierra Denali Ultimate trim offers exclusive design and premium materials. It does come with technologies including trailering-capable Super Cruise driver-assistance technology and a standard 420-horsepower, 6.2L V-8 engine. 

GMC further reported that the All-new AT4X trim offers an exclusive premium interior and advanced off-road capability. “With features such as Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear e-lockers and Terrain Mode with one-pedal crawling. While delivering excellent on-road comfort and trailering capability.”

Meanwhile, the GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate trim, features are leather-trim instrument panel; full-grain leather-wrapped door panels with etched stainless-steel speaker grilles; all-new 16-way power-adjustable and massaging front seats; standard 15-inch-diagonal multicolor Head-Up Display; and a standard power sunroof. 

But with the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X, the features are standard 6.2L V-8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission; Front and rear e-locking differentials, a combination not offered by any other competitor in its class; 18-inch black wheels with LT265/70R18 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac Mud-Terrain tires; and specific off-road chassis and suspension calibrations.
