Anheuser-Busch Calls for Pets to be Added to Natural Disaster Relief Efforts

American beverage company Anheuser-Busch announced last Thursday (September 9th) it is teaming up with the American Humane and the Red Cross to expand its disaster relief platform to help everyone in need. Whether they are two or four-legged. 

Anheuser-Busch declared that through the month of September it will be sharing “Prepare for Your Pets” disaster preparedness resources. The resources are focused on educating people on how to prepare themselves and their pets during a disaster situation. 

Anheuser-Busch is conducting runs of emergency drinking water at its Fort Collins, Colorado, and Cartersville, Georgia breweries. The runs will help replenish its stock of emergency drinking water. The company donated more than 400,000 cans of water following Hurricane Ida last month.

Speaking about the beverage brand’s new initiative, Colleen Lucas, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Anheuser-Busch, stated, “Our commitment to disaster relief has always been build on a foundation of preparedness. [It] ensures that we always stand ready to support our communities in times of need.”

The Anheuser-Busch VP further explained the company is using its reach to encourage others to prepare for disasters or emergencies. “We recognize that we all must do our part as individuals to prepare to protect our entire family. Including our pets who can’t plan for themselves.”

Dr. Robin Ganzert, President and CEO of American Humane, shared that ensuring others have an evacuation plan that includes pets will help save the lives of beloved animals. It will also save the lives of owners, volunteers, and first-responders. We are grateful for Anheuser-Busch’s support in helping to communicate this important message.”

Anheuser-Busch revealed it has donated over 86 million cans of emergency drinking water to communities in need.

Anheuser-Busch Will Be Donating $1 Million to the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program 

Along with its emergency preparedness resources, the Anheuser-Busch Foundation will also be donating $1 million to the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program. The donation will help ensure that the Red Cross may take immediate action for the communities that are in need of help. 

Gail McGovern, President and CEO of the American Red Cross, also commented on the donation from the beverage company.

“Thanks to Anheuser-Busch, its employees, resources, and Foundation’s generous financial support, the Red Cross can fulfill its mission of getting disaster-ravaged communities the lifesaving help they desperately need quickly and efficiently.”

The Giving Program’s members pledge donations on an ongoing basis, in advance of major disasters. The donations enable the Red Cross to respond immediately with comfort and care when disasters occur. It will help families during the recovery process. The program does educate communities on how to prepare for disasters as well.
