Elon Musk Is Making His Own Beer Called ‘GigaBier’

by Suzanne Halliburton

Elon Musk made his billions on electric cars and building rockets to launch into space.

It all made him the richest person in the world, as of this week. But now, Elon Musk has a new idea. He’s going to create his own beer. It’ll be called GigaBier.

Musk made the announcement Sunday at the Tesla Giga Berlin’s County Fair.

“We’re gonna build a train station that’s right on the property,” Elon Musk told the crowd. “And then we’re gonna have graffiti murals all throughout the factory, on the outside and everything. So I think that’s gonna be pretty cool. We’ve got some of them already.

Then came the real news. “And we’re even gonna have a beer,” he said as an image of “GigaBier” flashed on a screen behind him.

Elon Musk Beer Apparently Inspired By His Cybertruck

Folks who follow Elon Musk and Tesla quickly realized the bottes for the GigaBier appear to be inspired by Tesla’s Cybertruck. Musk’s all-electric truck is expected to start being built next year.

Elon Musk also was doing some trolling Sunday night. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk’s net worth increased to $222 billion (yes, that’s a b). He opened a bigger lead over Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose worth is now at $190.8 billion. Bloomberg said Musk’s money increased because of the valuation of Musk’s SpaceX.

Bezos tweeted: “Listen and be open, but don’t let anybody tell you who you are. This was just one of the many stories telling us all the ways we were going to fail. Today, Amazon is one of the world’s most successful companies and has revolutionized two entirely different industries.”

Elon Musk tried to rub it in with Bezos, replying with a tweet showing a silver medal. Honestly, with that much money, it doesn’t matter about gold, silver or bronze.

The two billionaires are rivals in the space game. Bezos’ Blue Origin will have a launch this week in far west Texas. That’s when 90-year-old actor William Shatner will take a quick ride on a Blue Origin rocket into space. Shatner, who played Star Trek’s Captain James T Kirk, will experience weightlessness for four minutes. The launch was pushed back to Wednesday because of high winds in the area.

Bloomberg said that Musk was worth about $9 billion more after they valued SpaceX at more than $100 billion. That’s about four times more than what Blue Origin is worth.

In other Elon Musk news — and there always is news with him — the billionaire is moving his Tesla headquarters from Palo Alto, Calif., to Austin, Tx. Musk announced the news to shareholders last week. He already was building a factory outside Austin. And SpaceX launches its rockets from far south Texas.
