There’s a special kind of feeling that comes from buying someone the perfect gift for the holidays. There’s also another feeling when you know what they will love, but it’s out of stock. If the latter applies to you and you wanted to gift someone Heineken beer, they might have you covered, as they’re offering an “IOU” for holiday supply chain delays.

CBS reported the news, stating the Dutch beer maker is holding an online contest for anyone who can prove they can’t get a gift delivered in time for the holidays. Winners will receive a gift card you can redeem for a free 12-pack of beer. The beer may be obtained from local retailers or a gift box to use as an “IOU” present while the gift recipient waits.

Entering is simple in that all that’s required is a submitted screenshot. Uploading an out-of-stock notice to the contest website will suffice as an entry. However, it should be noted the contest is limited to 1,500 winners. You can enter two weekends before Christmas, with them being December 10-12 and December 17-19. Applicable cities are New York, Miami, Philadelphia, Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Phoenix, and Houston.

Heineken states they will use a courier to get past the delays themselves. The courier will drop it off at a local retailer and the winner can then pick it up. Josh Egan, Heineken’s U.S. brand director, stated the contest came to be to make the most out of an unfortunate situation with delays. “This is really just an opportunity here to make the most of kind of a bad situation and be there as a partner for our consumers.”

Canadian Runner Runs Beer Mile and Breaks His Own World Record

Running and drinking beer together isn’t something you imagine would work well and it kind of doesn’t. Nonetheless, beer miles are a thing and recently, a Canadian runner broke his own world record for it.

For those who don’t know, a beer mile is a mile-long run where runners chug a beer after each lap. Given four laps is a mile, that’s about 48 ounces of it in your belly by the end. Corey Bellemore is an accomplished runner and beer-drinker, finishing a recent race with a crazy 4:28 time.

Talking to Men’s Health, the runner is clearly happy but says there’s still room to improve the time. “I knew the potential was there, and I’m finally happy to go sub-4:30,” he said. “There’s still room for improvement, but overall, good quality field, everyone ran really fast, so it was an awesome day.”

Apparently, Bellemore needs only seven seconds to down a beer. I honestly don’t know if I’m more impressed with that or the run time itself.
