If you thought the Tokyo Olympics had the only Opening Ceremony this summer, think again. The 2021 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally kicks off in less than 24 hours, and rally-goers can’t wait for their own opening celebrations. In fact, the small South Dakota town is already rumbling with early arrivals. Already, bikers are filling up restaurants, shops and streets in preparation for the nine-day event. And the town is just as excited to have them there.
Throughout this past week, Sturgis Motorcycle Rally posted about their 2021 visitors on Instagram. In today’s photos, it’s clear that hundreds and thousands of people have already reached South Dakota for the rally. The roads are brimming with bikes and the town is decked out in banners, signs and stickers. Along with the photos, the rally wrote, “Opening Ceremony is tomorrow but make no mistake.. the Rally is here! #SturgisRally.”
The first photo in the album shares a shot of a Sturgis street. While the 2021 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally doesn’t kick off for another day, bikers have already claimed the roads as their own. Along the sides of the streets, vendors have already pitched their tents to help welcome this year’s guests. From the photos, we can see that Cabela’s has even joined the line-up. Of course, some of the biggest hot spots this coming week will be saloons and tattoo parlors. And in the last of the rally’s photos, it’s clear many bikers have already become frequent patrons. Above the favorite stops, a banner boasts the rally’s slogan, “The Roar. The Ride. The Rally.”
2021 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Defines Two Types of Riders
Last year, many riders had to stay home from the long-anticipated event to keep from spreading COVID-19. In light of the vaccination and more relaxed social policies, the town expects to see a huge increase in attendance at the 2021 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Excited to see bigger crowds headed their way, the rally recently posted a stunning photo of the town’s hillside sign amid a horizon of green trees. Not surprisingly, a ruby red Harley Davidson glistened in the front of a row of bikes in the foreground.
In the caption, the rally stated that there are only two kinds of riders: “The ones that are here already” or “The ones that are on their way.”
Even with the massive amount of bikers already in town, there are still plenty more heading their way. So, if you hear a distant hum of motors coming from the north, you’re likely hearing the rest of the nation’s riders headed up to the 2021 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
