Carrie Underwood took home the highest honor at the 2020 CMT Awards.

What Carrie Underwood Had to Say

The country powerhouse took home the Video of the Year award on Wednesday, Oct. 21 for “Drinking Alone.” Underwood accepted the honor from her home in Tennessee. Underwood also took home the honor for Female Video of the Year for the iconic music video.

Underwood held her reign as the most awarded artist in CMT Awards history. This year’s show brought her total to 22 wins. She’s won the Video of the Year title five times and has been nominated twelve times.

Underwood was shocked after receiving her first win. “Oh my gosh, thank you so much. Thank you CMT,” Underwood said in her first acceptance speech. “Thank you fans so much for voting. It means so much to me and just lets me know that you’re still doing what you do, which is giving the love. Thank you fans. Just thank you, I don’t deserve you.”

Her Second CMT Awards Honor

Underwood was even more thrilled to take home her second honor. “Thank you so much,” she began. “This one is really all about you guys. Especially because we haven’t been together, but I just feel so loved this evening,” she said. “So thank you guys so much. Of course, all the winners and nominees tonight, this is something that is so fun for us to be able to visually bring ourselves to life, so thank you for all of the support and all of the fans who have been voting for everybody. We all feel loved tonight. Thank you so much.”

This seems to be Underwood’s year as she has taken home another prestigious honor earlier this year. She took home the coveted Entertainer of the Year award at the 2020 ACM Awards. She became the first female to win Entertainer of the Year three times. Additionally, she is in the first ever tie in the category.
