2021 CMA Awards: Miranda Lambert Kicks Off the Night With an Epic Medley

Miranda Lambert kicked off the 2021 CMA Awards with a bang!

On Wednesday, Nov. 10, the 55th Annual Country Music Association Awards were held. Gabby Barrett, Mickey Guyton and Carly Pearce introduced Lambert to the stage. The country crooner performed a medley of her hits. This included “Mama’s Broken Hearts,” “Kerosene,” “Bluebird,” and “Gunpowder and Lead.”

Needless to say, fans were thrilled with her performance and thrilled to listen to so many classics. Prior to her outstanding performance, she walked the red carpet with her husband Brendan McLoughlin. She wore a black curve-hugging dress for the occasion.

In a new interview after rehearsals, Lambert revealed a perk that comes with opening up a show.

“I am opening the show this year,” Miranda Lambert said. “So I can’t tell you much other than that… some surprises. I’m also done at 7:05 so I get to sit and enjoy the night so it is amazing.” We hope Lambert is sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying the show!

Along with the CMA Awards, it’s Lambert’s 38th birthday! With her three latest nominations, she is officially the third most nominated artist in CMA Awards history.

Miranda Lambert’s Big Night

Miranda Lambert is up for Entertainer of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. Additionally, she is nominated with Elle King for Music Event of the Year for “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)”. She lost the award to Kelsea Ballerini and Kenny Chesney for “Half of My Hometown.”

“That category, to me, everyone’s deserving of it,” Lambert said of Entertainer of the Year. “There’s never an upset when we all worked really hard to get here. I’m also glad there’s another female in the category because she needs to be there. She’s a badass.”

It’s sure to be an epic night for Miranda Lambert and Elle King. Ironically, the two have never been able to get drunk and not want to go home because King got pregnant before their duet was released. The two have become close after touring together on the Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars tour.

“We’ve never actually gotten to get drunk and not want to go home together,” Lambert shared. “Because she got pregnant so this CMAs we’re sitting together. I think this is our first time that we get to like live out our song together on a night. So I’m very excited about that.”

Furthermore, the 2021 CMA Awards took place on Wednesday, November 10 at Nashville, Tennesse’s Bridgestone Arena. Luke Bryan hosted the evening which featured twenty performances. Stay tuned to Outsider for more CMA Awards content!
