Alyssa Milano sparked an emergency response Sunday following a call to 911 on what turned out to be a teenager shooting at squirrels with an air rifle, The Daily Mail reported. The “Charmed” and “Who’s the Boss” star is a vocal supporter of the “defund the police” movement.

The newspaper reported police responded to her 8,000, $2.5 million home in the Bell Canyon, Calif., community Sunday morning. A neighbor made the initial 911 call about someone dressed in black skulking around the actress’s home. Milano’s husband, Dave Bugliari, called shortly thereafter to find out how long it would take for police to arrive.

Seven Ventura County Sheriffs’ vehicles, a K-9 unit, as well as a police helicopter, arrived at her home. An LA Fire Department team also sat down the street on standby, the newspaper reported.

After a three-hour search, cops ruled the culprit was just shooting an air gun at squirrels, Page Six reported. There are no charges or citations on file from the incident, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

A spokesman for Milano released a statement from the actress about the incident.

“The responding officers were amazing and made my family and I feel safe and secure as we ‘sheltered in place’ until we knew exactly what was happening,” she said. “These are exactly the type of situations that police officers are trained for and should be responding to, and we will always support police having the resources they need for appropriate policing actions.

“We’d love to see equally trained non-police professionals respond to addiction and mental health crises and non-violent events so that these brave officers can do the jobs they are so good at handling, as they demonstrated this weekend.”
