E-commerce brand Amazon announced it is planning to hire 150,000 seasonal job employees this holiday season in the U.S.
According to its latest press release, Amazon revealed that hired seasonal employees will receive an immediate contingent offer with an average starting pay of $18 per hour. They will also receive sign-on bonuses of up to $3,000. An additional $3 per hour will also be offered, depending on shifts in locations.
Alicia Boler Davis, Senior Vice President, Global Customer Fulfillment at Amazon, spoke about the additional seasonal jobs. “Our seasonal hiring helps us deliver on our promises to customers. While also providing flexibility to our full-time employees during busy periods.”
Boler Davis further explained that joining Amazon in one of its seasonal roles offers high-paying, part-time work, or a path to a full-time position, with benefits like its Career Choice program, helps people advance their education and careers within Amazon or beyond.
Andrea Wilkerson, Staffing Coordinator for Amazon, also comment about the additional employees. “I can say from experience that the array of positions Amazon offers, coupled with a flexible work schedule. Ensures the company can meet the needs of any employee. This includes those who are looking to rejoin the workforce, or start a new career with advancement opportunities, or just to earn some extra money over the holiday season.”
Amazon then noted the States with the greatest number of seasonal roles include Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, and Georgia. The company recently revealed it’s on track to invest more than $1 billion in higher pay for front-line teams.
What Holiday Shoppers Can Expect From Amazon This Holiday Season
The seasonal employee announcement comes just a couple of weeks after Amazon announced its special Black Friday deals. This was great news for online shoppers because experts are predicting that shipping and supply chain issues may affect the holiday season.
Dave Clark, CEO of worldwide consumer at Amazon, previously commented about the Black Friday deals. “Customers can confidently shop early knowing they are receiving incredible deals starting today. Letting them get a head start on their holiday to-do lists so they can truly enjoy the holiday season. And I want to thank our incredible team around the world for everything they do each day to support each other and our customers. I couldn’t be prouder to work with you all.”
Amazon also unveiled its selection of gift guides. This includes Holiday Toy List, Home, Fashion, Beauty, and Electronics Gift Guides, as well as guides like Stocking Stuffer Picks and Customers’ Most-Loved products.
Amazon announced for the first time ever, Prime members in the U.S. may send gifts with just an email or mobile phone number. There is no need to know the recipient’s address. Prime Members must use the Amazon mobile app for this feature.
