However, updates in the investigation came earlier Sunday. The updates reveal authorities have obtained cellphone data which may help in tracking the couple’s movements since the woman’s disappearance.

According to The Sun, the breakthrough in the case means that authorities can potentially track the couple’s movements overall. However, the outlet further stated investigators first need to obtain a search warrant to move forward with the investigation.

Additionally, authorities stated that the newly discovered cellphone data will not reveal the couple’s movements in real-time. Although, it could help them track their movements since Gabby Petito initially went missing.

Boyfriend Brian Laundrie Remains Person of Interest

While the nation waits to hear updates concerning the potentially located body of Gabby Petito, authorities now also search for the woman’s boyfriend Brian Laundrie. From the start of the investigation, Laundrie and his parents have remained uncooperative with efforts in locating the 22-year-old. As Laundrie persisted in avoiding interviews, the FBI soon named Gabby Petito’s boyfriend a person of interest in the investigation.

Since, Laundrie himself has now disappeared, after telling his parents Tuesday he intended to go on a hike. Following extensive silence on their part, Laundrie’s parents filed a missing person’s report after going days without seeing their son.

Alongside the man’s disappearance, authorities have now officially reported that Laundrie potentially poses a danger to both others and himself. Park rangers and other investigators have since launched a manhunt for the woman’s boyfriend in Carlton Reserve, where his parents stated he planned to undergo his hike. So far, authorities have come up empty-handed.

Gabby Petito’s Family Believes Laundrie is Hiding

As stated before, Brian Laundrie was officially named a person of interest in Gabby Petito’s disappearance. However, reports state they are not pursuing the individual as a criminal so far.

Officially North Port Police Department said, “It is important to note that while Brian is a person of interest in Gabby’s disappearance, he is not wanted for a crime. We are not currently working a crime investigation.” Although the department did state that, after days of Laundrie and his family blocking progress into the Gabby Petito investigation, they are nevertheless frustrated.

Additionally, from the eyes of the missing woman’s family, and the eyes of many Americans, Laundrie has possibly gone into hiding. The family released a statement writing, “All of Gabby’s family want the world to know that Brian is not missing, he is hiding. Gabby is missing.”
