Former President Barack Obama has taken the gloves off as he campaigns for Presidential Candidate Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris.
The 44th president was in Miami over the weekend in support of his former Vice President. Additionally, Florida International University provided the backdrop for Obama “drive-in” campaign rally. As a result, he brought several democrat backers to the rally.
Obama set his sights on current President Donald Trump and therefore didn’t let off the gas as he tore into Trump’s presidency. He then criticized Trump for not taking the position seriously enough, saying he “treats the presidency like a reality show,” according to Rolling Stone.
Obama Roasts Trump
Obama even compared the president to the infamous “Florida man,” and says the American people deserve better.
“We’re not going to have a president that goes out of his way to insult anybody who he doesn’t think is nice enough to him,” he says. “We won’t have a president who threatens people with jail just for criticizing him. That isn’t normal behavior, Florida. You wouldn’t tolerate it from a coworker and you wouldn’t tolerate it from a high school principal. You wouldn’t tolerate it from a coach or tolerate it from a family member. ‘Florida man’ wouldn’t even do that stuff.”
The “Florida man” is an internet meme that became popular several years ago. The phrase is taken from various unrelated news articles to portray people from Florida in a mocking light.
In urging voters to remove Trump from the White House, Obama then pointed to the president’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis as an example of his shortcomings.
“At least 220,000 Americans are dead,” he said. More than 100,000 small businesses have closed. Half a million jobs are gone. You delivered for me twice, Florida, and now I am asking you to deliver for Joe and Kamala.”
With election day drawing ever near, Obama will continue his support of the Biden and Harris Democratic ticket, he says.
