Former president Bill Clinton faced a significant health scare after suffering a urological infection that rapidly spread to his bloodstream. However, reports state the president will leave the hospital soon and remains in good spirits.
On Saturday, former First Lady of the United States, Hilary Clinton, returned to the University of California Irvine Medical Center Saturday around 8 a.m. Clinton was accompanied by the couple’s daughter, Chelsea, and her husband, Marc Mezvinksky.
The New York Post reported that former President Clinton developed a urinary tract infection. It later spread to the bloodstream, although he never entered septic shock or receive ICU treatment. Clinton’s spokesman, Angel Ureña updated the public on the gentleman’s improving condition.
He shared on Friday the former president was to stay overnight for further treatment. Ureña stated, “All health indicators are trending in the right direction, including his white blood count, which has decreased significantly.”
The spokesman confirmed Clinton remains in “excellent spirits” and is thankful for all the well-wishes sent him way “from across America and around the world.”
President Joe Biden confirmed the positive condition of the ex-president and stated he would be released soon.
Earlier reports from Clinton’s hospitalization quickly ruled out COVID-19 as the source. His condition remained stable throughout, contributing to his rapid improvement. As Clinton finishes out his treatment, he remains in the hospital’s ICU primarily for privacy reasons and nothing else.
Bill Clinton Suffers From Ongoing Heart Condition
Alongside his current medical ordeal, Bill Clinton has undergone some serious medical incidents and surgeries in the past.
Soon after the former president left office, Clinton received a heart disease diagnosis. By 2004, symptoms became impossible to disregard. That same year, the gentleman underwent quadruple heart bypass. The intensive surgery cleared four blocked arteries, however, in 2010, Clinton received surgery again. This time, he had two stents implanted for an additional artery block.
As if his heart condition weren’t serious enough, Clinton has also demonstrated a history of both cysts and skin cancers. Nevertheless, sources state Clinton has been moving around and communicating normally throughout his hospital stay. Additionally, reports state the former president has passed the time reading and following coverage of his health scare on television. Though, surely, it can’t be the only shows he’s watching. After all, it has come to the public forefront that the Clintons are fans of the hit crime drama, “Blue Bloods.”
Danny Reagan actor, Danny Wahlberg, previously revealed in a segment on “CBS This Morning” that both Clintons are two of the shows biggest fans. In 2014, Wahlberg shared, “My wife was interviewing Hillary Clinton last year, and Hillary came off the stage and said, ‘I just have to tell you that I love ‘Blue Blood.”” Apparently, Clinton shared, “Bill and I watch it every Friday night.”
