As law enforcement continues to investigate the area where Brian Laundrie’s belongings were found alongside human remains, the Laundrie family’s attorney is opening up about the possibility that the remains could be Gabby Petito’s missing boyfriend.

During an interview with Chris Cuomo on Wednesday (October 20th), Bertolino admitted that Brian Laundrie’s parents are “heartbroken” by the discovery of his personal items and the suspected human remains. “The probability is strong that it is Brian’s remains. But we are going to wait for the forensic results to come in to verify that.”

Bertolino also revealed that he initially instructed Brian Laundrie’s parents to not speak to authorities. He also advised them to not speak to Gabby Petito’s family about the situation. “I can tell you the reason,” the lawyer states. “I told them not to… everybody has the right to remain silent.”

As previously reported, the human remains and Brian Laundrie’s personal items were found in a previously underwater area. FBI Tampa Division’s Michael McPherson revealed that the personal items were a backpack and notebook. Bertolino issued a statement that Laundrie’s parents were at the reserve earlier in the day when the items were located.

“Chris and Roberta [Laundrie] will wait for the forensic identification of the human remains before making any additional comments.”

Former Homicide Detective Says the Human Remains Discovered in Brian Laundrie’s Hunt May Not Be Intact

During a recent interview with Fox NewsYour World, former Washington D.C. homicide detective, Ted Williams, says he believes that the human remains found during the Brian Laundrie’s search on Wednesday may actually not be intact. “We know that they brought out today cadaver dogs. That leads me to believe that the body itself may not have been completely intact. And they were using cadaver dogs to find perhaps [additional] body part[s].”

The former detective also says he expects to hear a preliminary announcement from authorities within the next 24 hours. He raised the possibility of the human remains belonging to Brian Laundrie that the cause of death may have been suicide.

“The question is, if that’s the body, how did he die?” the detective asks. “And it is more likely than not that if this is Brian Laundrie, I would have to believe that he died perhaps as a result of a gunshot wound.”

The detective also gave examples of Brian Laundrie king medicine. “You know, conked out in that way. But the most likely source would perhaps be that he would be by gunshot. And I’m sure they are looking to see if, in fact, they can find a weapon in that whole area right now.”

The detective goes on to add that the whole area where Brian Laundrie’s belongs and the human remains were found is now a crime scene. “Just keep that in mind.”
