Everyone around the country has been following the case involving Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito. And the police dropped some big news earlier today.
That big news? Brian Laundrie’s notebook may very well be “salvageable” based upon the latest information from police. The FBI located the remains of Brian Laundrie in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park on October 20. His remains were considered, “skeletal,” and they were found alongside a notebook, a backpack, and a dry bag that contained some of his things.
But it turns out that the condition of the notebook may be in better shape than some people thought. Not only that, but it might have some legible writing inside of it. Josh Taylor, the public information officer with the North Port Police Department explained as much to Fox News Digital.
“It appears it may be salvageable. That really is a question for FBI though,” Taylor said.
This news comes as a stark contrast to what most people originally believed. Since Laundrie’s body was skeletal, it was assumed he has been dead for some time. In addition, the hot and humid weather, combined with the high water levels in the area led people to believe that the items found — particularly the notebook — would have been mostly destroyed.
As it currently stands, the FBI has said they do not have any new information to share with the public. But the agency will continue to post updates to Twitter whenever there is anything new to share.

“On October 21, 2021, a comparison of dental records confirmed that the human remains found at the T. Mabry Carlton, Jr. Memorial Reserve and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park are those of Brian Laundrie. The FBI is grateful for the tremendous investigative support from our partners.”
Despite their statement, however, law enforcement is still not entirely sure how the 23-year-old died. More questions arose when his autopsy results came back as inconclusive. In the meantime, authorities will continue to examine Laundrie’s body and the other evidence they found to figure out just that. Perhaps they can learn more from Laundrie’s notebook if it is, in fact, legible.
Steve Bertolino, the Laundrie family attorney, said that Brian’s remains will be sent to a forensic anthropologist for further examination. Prior to his death, Laundrie was the only person of interest in the homicide case involving his fiance, 22-year-old Gabby Petito. According to Petito’s autopsy results, her cause of death was manual strangulation. Law enforcement found her remains exactly one month before finding Laundrie’s.
