“Hopefully his notebook can detail what it is we all want to know,” a friend of Brian Laundrie’s shared regarding the discovery of his remains and belongings.

The friend, who wished to remain anonymous, shed a bit of light regarding who Laundrie was before his disappearance. Despite their long friendship with the deceased fugitive, the friend seemed just as shocked at his actions over the course of the past few months. However, what wasn’t quite as shocking was the conclusion of the FBI’s search. On Wednesday, authorities located human remains as well as several personal items, including a notebook, that they later determined to belong to Laundrie. The cause of death is still unknown.

“I think this is the outcome we expected,” the friend told The U.S. Sun. “I don’t know if it’s the one we would ask for.”

They continued, “But it appears as if this story is over.”

Just as sources in the past have claimed, the anonymous friend explained that Brian Laundrie was an “off the grid type of guy” who would disappear into the wilderness if he had to.”

“He’s the type of person that would be able to drop everything to secure his means of not being captured and to evade arrest or evade prosecution from what seems to be a pending crime,” the friend shared.

Back in high school, the friend claimed that Brian Laundrie was even more reserved in high school.

“Brian was very quiet in school. He was a bit of an outcast when he was younger. He was just so to himself,” they shared.

“These last two years were the most public and open he has ever been,” the source continued. “He’s a pretty disconnected off-the-grid type of guy, not the ‘selfie’ type.”

Brian Laundrie’s Friend Received Calls from ‘Unknown Numbers’

Prior to the conclusion of the search, Brian Laundrie’s friend had high hopes that the fugitive would reach out to him. According to the source, they were the only one of the friend group that was close with just Laundrie. Meanwhile, the rest of the group was just as close with Laundrie’s deceased fianceé, Gabby Petito. Because of this, the friend felt that he would be the go-to ally for the man on the run.

“He might think I wouldn’t hold some stigma or I wouldn’t care about the matter,” the friend said. “I get calls from unknown numbers and from blocked callers and my heart drops… I just think it’s gonna be him on the other side, you never know.”

As small as Brian Laundrie’s friend group was in high school, it was nonexistent in middle school, according to the friend. The friend alleged that Laundrie had “zero friends” at the time and sat at a lunch table with only two other people. The source didn’t become friends with Laundrie, themselves, until high school.
