When a bride walks down the aisle and looks into the crowd, it’s important that all of her loved ones are there for her big day. So, when this 24-year-old woman in white was missing a very special member of her family, she decided to bring the ceremony to him.

Natalie Browning had everything ready for her wedding in Virginia, down to the last centerpiece and party favor. But when her 93-year-old grandfather, Nelson, suffered a stroke that prevented him from traveling just two weeks before the big day, she decided to make the surprise 800-mile journey to his home in Florida instead. She packed her jewelry, supplies and, most importantly, her wedding dress before heading to the airport on August 1.

While waiting for her flight, the bride did her makeup. She even carried a pink garment bag holding her white dress onto the plane. Excited to share the touching moment with her grandfather, Browning documented her journey in a video. She later admitted that while the journey was certainly worth the effort, hauling bridal supplies through the airport was not the easiest of tasks.

“Getting the wedding dress through the airport was a struggle to say the least, but it was all worth it when I saw his amazing reaction,” the bride said, according to Daily Mail.

From the airport, family members traveling with the bride helped her get ready for the big reveal. In secret, she put on her gown and fastened her hair just like she would for her nuptials.

Bride Says Trip to See Grandfather Was a ‘Truly Special Day’

Once at her grandfather’s house, Browning finally revealed the big plan. Much to Nelson’s surprise, his gorgeous granddaughter stood at his doorstep in a stunning and simple white gown. Then the two finally shared the first dance she had promised him months ago.

Despite the grandfather’s compromised state, he managed to dress in a white button-down and red tie. He twirled his 24-year-old granddaughter around his Florida living room, showing off some impressive ballroom skills. Meanwhile, other family members in the room enjoyed the touching moment between Browning and her grandfather.

“For months he’d been so excited to dance with me on my wedding night and I’m just so happy that I was able to give him that experience,” the bride shared, according to Fox News. “I don’t get to see him very often so it truly was a special day.”

Of course, the trip was just as special to Nelson, who never expected his granddaughter to make the trip down the coast to see him.

Browning married her husband, Cooper, on June 27. Although the dance with her grandfather came weeks later, the bride still considers it the first dance of her wedding night.
