NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace recently gained the respect of many motorsport fans after he offered to replace a fan’s destroyed gear.

Noah Cornelius tweeted on Sept. 7 that his father ripped the Wallace bumper sticker off the back of his car, saying it was “tacky” and a “political statement.” Wallace is often attacked by critics who say he should leave politics out of NASCAR. Wallace is an outspoken advocate for Black Lives Matter, racial justice, and police reforms.

The tweet quickly went viral where it picked up hundreds of retweets and thousands of likes. Wallace quickly responded. He offered to replace the destroyed merchandise and thanked Cornelius for his support.

Cornelius thanked Wallace and everyone for their help spreading the word. He later added it had been “the greatest night of (his) life.” Moreover, he said wanted to thank Wallace for getting him back into NASCAR. He said he’d stopped watching the sport before Wallace joined.

Additionally, several other people said they returned to NASCAR because of Wallace.
