Burger King is changing its iconic Whopper sandwich. Don’t worry too much. Nothing important is changing. The burger’s ingredients are just changing a bit, and the packaging with them. Burger King announced that it would be changing its Whopper wrapping to show the ingredients within its legendary menu item.
The Whopper wrapper now shows what the burger is really made of: 100% flame-grilled beef, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, pickles, onions and a sesame seed bun. The restaurant chain announced that it has made a change to it food, so that 85% of its permanent menu is now free from preservatives, colors, flavors, and other chemicals. Burger King has a goal of 100% by the end of 2021.
The restaurant chain is even encouraging people to remember the Whopper’s ingredients. Fans recite them “by heart,” which you can see in the fun commercial below.
“We put a lot of effort into the Whopper to make it taste great and the real Whopper free of colors, flavors and preservatives from artificial sources has the same iconic flame-grilled flavor that guests know and love,” said Chris Finazzo, President of Americas at Burger King. “This announcement further highlights our commitment to serve delicious, affordable meals our guests can feel good about.”
It’s unclear how long Burger King will keep this new Whopper wrapper, but it’s a fun novelty while it’s at the restaurant. The burger itself may taste better, too.
