On Monday, HBO released a trailer for “My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood.” It opens with Underwood singing the Christmas classic, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” In addition, the trailer features Underwood singing selections from her new holiday album, “My Gift.”

“For Christmas, I feel like it was always about just us being together,” Underwood said in the trailer. “So, more than anything, I wanted to make this album full of so much love and so much heart. And, we wanted to bring it to life in a visual way. I can’t wait for everyone to see it. … Every time I am on stage it is a gift for me to get to sing.”

Underwood’s Christmas album, “My Gift,” was released in September. Since that time, the singer has discussed her work on the album and its collaborative process. Legend wrote “Hallelujah” and shared it with her.

“I was deep into making the album, and this one kind of came in. He sent it to us kind of at the end. It was like, ‘Well, I love the song. I feel like this is a puzzle piece I didn’t know was missing, but now that I’ve heard it, I have to have it,’” she said.
