Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has torn his ACL and is out for the season, according to former ESPN insider Josina Anderson.

Anderson sent a tweet early Monday morning saying that Beckham confirmed the bad news to her via text message.

“Odell Beckham Jr just text me that his ACL is torn and that his season is over,” Anderson wrote.

Beckham tore his ACL while trying to make a tackle during Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He laid on the turf for some time before being taken directly to the locker room by trainers.

It’s a tough break for Beckham, who has been healthy this season but dealt with injuries almost all of last year. He had offseason surgery, which made him excited to get back on the field this year.

Similarly, it’s a touch break for the Browns as Cleveland traded first and third-round picks, as well as safety Jabrill Peppers and offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler for Beckham and pass-rusher Olivier Vernon back in March of 2019. Beckham is signed through the 2023 season.

The Browns improved to 5-2 with their win over the Bengals on Sunday. They will now move forward with a receiving corps that includes Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins and rookie Donovan Peoples-Jones. Landry has been dealing with a broken rib he suffered two weeks ago.

“Heal up and come back better than ever @obj!” Riddick wrote.

Similarly, former NFL safety Ryan Clark sent his thoughts to Beckham as well.

“Damn Prayers up @obj,” she says. “Hate this for you!”
