Conchata Ferrell, ‘Two and a Half Men’ Star, Now on Respirator Following Heart Attack

Conchata Ferrell suffered a heart attack and is now on a respirator, dialysis, and has been placed in a long-term care facility.

Health Update on Conchata Ferrell

Ferrell’s husband, Arnie, told TMZ on Wednesday (July 16) that after a stint in the intensive care unit, she went into cardiac arrest for approximately ten minutes.

Arnie told the outlet that she is in a respiratory unit as she is currently on a respirator in addition to receiving dialysis treatments for her kidneys. She has been in a semi-conscious state but can not talk or communicate. Her condition is now considered stable.

“It’s going to be a while before there’s any recovery,” Arnie said. “It’s all neurological. There’s nothing we can do to speed it up the process. We are hoping for the best.”

Unfortunately, Arnie can not visit his wife due to the coronavirus pandemic. Hospital guidelines state that loved ones can not visit. Ferrell is not suffering from any coronavirus (COVID-19) related illness.

Conchata’s Medical Fight

The 77-year-old actress has had her share of ailments. She was hospitalized in the ICU in December of 2019. She was staying in her Charleston, West Virginia home over the holidays when she became extremely weak. Doctors finally diagnosed with a kidney infection that began to contaminate her blood.

Secondly, in January, she was released from the hospital into transitional care. She recovered at her vacation home in Charleston for all of January. She did physical therapy multiple times daily. Her husband told TMZ that she was bedridden and couldn’t walk until later in her recovery. Ferrell told the outlet that she is not sure how she contracted the infection.

Her Co-Stars Respond

“Wishing and praying for Conchata Ferrell’s speedy recovery,” Viola Davis tweeted. “One of my first jobs was the tv movie Amy and Isabelle. She was a light. A beautiful spirit. It was one of my finest memories. Love you Conchata,” she concluded alongside a heart emoji.

Finally, Holland Taylor also tweeted her well wishes to Ferrell. “There is no one like you, Conchata. Brilliant, independent mind, realistic, savvy, but positive,” she wrote. “The most wonderful laugh, of which I shared many. Heartbroken you are in hospital, Chatti… thinking of you along with Viola and countless others. You’re a strong one…”
