The 2021 CMA Awards Entertainer of the Year goes to… Luke Combs!

On Wednesday (November 10), Combs took home the coveted award. Living legend Alan Jackson presented him with the award. Nominees for the Entertainer of the Year award included Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, and Chris Stapleton. All of the nominees performed during this year’s telecast.

“I’m really kind of at a loss for words,” Luke Combs admitted while holding the trophy. This marks his first CMA win in this category.

“Alan Jackson said my name… twice just now,” he continued in disbelief. “But, I honestly don’t know what to say. I have never written a speech for something like this, which is not serving me very well right now.”

Combs went on to thank his fans and mentioned that his fellow nominees also deserved this award.

“I don’t deserve to win it, but I’m sure as hell glad that I did,” he concluded.

Combs previously won New Artist of the Year back in 2018. He went on to win both Male Vocalist and Song of the Year at the 2019 ceremony. Additionally, he took home Male Vocalist of the Year in 2020 and Album of the Year.

After Luke Combs’ rehearsals for the CMA Awards, he spoke about the biggest award during the evening.

“It’s the top award in our, in our business and our genre you know? So I think you know everybody that gets nominated wants to win,” he continued. “I know I would love to win at some point and if that’s this year, five years from now and I know but just being nominated is awesome and something that I definitely don’t take for granted.”

In an interview with The Tennessean, Miranda Lambert spoke about just how much the recognition means to her.

“That category, to me, everyone’s deserving of it,” she began. “There’s never an upset when we all worked really hard to get here. I’m also glad there’s another female in the category because she needs to be there. She’s a badass.”

When it comes to the future starlets, she has already got her eye on new artists.

That category, to me, everyone’s deserving of it,” she added. “There’s never an upset when we all worked really hard to get here. I’m also glad there’s another female in the category because she needs to be there. She’s a badass.”
