All About the CMT Music Awards

The CMT Awards are the only fan-voted country awards show. The show began in 2002 to honor the finest country music videos.

Furthermore, Carrie Underwood has 20 CMT Music Awards wins to date and is the most-awarded artist in history. Underwood also has the record for having the most Video of the Year wins with eight. Aside from the American Idol winner, no artist or band has won the coveted award more than three times. Last year, Underwood’s “Drinking Alone” video won the honor.

“Fans, you guys never cease to amaze me at how hard you work,” Underwood said while accepting the award from her living room couch. “Just, thank you so much. This one is really all about you guys, especially because we, again, haven’t been together, but I just feel so loved this evening.”

Underwood revealed that she has an entire hallway dedicated to her awards. She needs the room, especially as she has 20 CMT Music Awards trophies alone. “They’re definitely on display because I’m really proud of them,” she added.
