ACM Awards 2021: Carly Pearce & Lee Brice Win Music Event of the Year

The highly anticipated 2021 ACM Awards are coming up this Sunday, and a few big winners have already been announced. Carly Pearce and Lee Brice are taking home some hardware from this year’s awards for “Music Event of the Year.”

The duo teamed up for the hit song “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” released in October 2020. After learning about their big win, the two were definitely happy for one another.

“I’m over the moon on winning this award but especially happy for Carly,” Brice said, according to a press release. “This is her story, her song and I am honored to be a part of it. Seeing this from the very beginning from her perspective to now winning awards is a full circle — and humbling but rewarding.”

Carly Pearce Opens Up About Emotion Put Into the Ballad

Pearce, 30, also spoke out about how the story of the song touches on an emotion that connects with “everyone.”

“Everyone at some point in their life has found themselves caught in a relationship where you love the other person so much, yet over time, it all falls apart,” Pearce said in a press release. “When we all started talking about our lives and our journeys, every one of us had been in this position – and it’s the worst feeling. You get to a point where you have to do something, and even that doesn’t really make things better, it just creates a hole where your heart used to be.”

While Pearce has already notched one ACM Awards victory for the emotional power ballad, she might add more trophies to the shelf this weekend. She’s also up for “Single of the Year.”

However, Pearce isn’t just grateful for her own nominations, she’s pumped for all of the other female nominees this year.

“It has been such an incredible year for women in country music,” she says. “And the Academy of Country Music really showed that with this year’s nominees. Having grown up on so many dynamic, awesome women, I am so proud to be part of this year’s group of incredible female artists who inspire me so much and support each other when the going gets tough.”
