Alan Jackson revealed that two of his songs were put on his record thanks to his daughters.

After six years, fans were treated to new originals from the man himself. “I Do” and “You’ll Always Be My Baby” were late additions to his latest album, Where Have You Gone. His daughters, Mattie, Alexandra, and Dani were all responsible for convincing him.

“I wasn’t planning on writing another song for a wedding,” he explained in a Twitter video. “They didn’t ask me to. Ali my second daughter was getting married and it just came out one day,” Alan Jackson said of “I Do.” His friends and family suggested that he record the tune and also play it at her wedding.

He came up with the idea to have the two wedding songs as “bonus tracks” at the end of the record. However, his family and label agreed that they shouldn’t be in the deluxe version and just be on the official record.

“I’ll be honest with you I didn’t think either [of those songs] will end up on the album,” Alan Jackson admitted. “I thought they were just going to be wedding songs but they all wanted me to include it on the record.”

Another song that Jackson was “hesitant” to cut but thoroughly enjoyed was “So Late So Soon.” The song is a bit of a departure for him as it has more of a swing vibe to it. It was his wife, Denise that suggested he should put it on the record.

“First song is a little different,” said Jackson. “You know it kind of almost had a little swing kind of feel to it, to me. I don’t know why I feel that way but I do.”

Oftentimes his family life experiences will make it into his songwriting. At the end of the day, he wants to put out what his fans will enjoy most and that he can relate to.

“I’ve always had a mixture of types of songs,” he said in a recent interview. “From heartbreak to drinkin’. Songs about my family and life. Fun songs, Friday night songs and everything in-between. That’s the way all my records have pretty much been.”

Furthermore, his latest record was widely received by fans. It even debuted No. 1 on the United States Current Country Album chart. It also topped the charts in Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia. This marks his 15th Top 10 album on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
