Alan Jackson Set to Release First Single Since 2017, ‘You’ll Always Be My Baby’

Get ready Alan Jackson fans! The country music legend is about to do something he hasn’t done in years! He is releasing a single for the first time since 2017.

Jackson’s upcoming single is “You’ll Always Be My Baby (Written For Daughters’ Weddings).” It is part of his latest album, “Where Have You Gone.” This song is set to hit country music radio stations on Aug. 16.

“You’ll Always Be My Baby” is a song that is very, very close to Alan Jackson’s heart. As the title says, he penned it so it could be played during the wedding ceremonies for his daughters. The song allows Alan Jackson to express to his daughters what it is like for him to watch them grow. He also shares his perspective on seeing them become young women. The lyrics are simple, yet powerfully moving. They will hit home with any father who has watched a beloved child get married and leave home.

“16, first car / 21 and there’s a broken heart / High heels, strong will / In my eyes I see a young child still / But you’re a woman on your own / All in love and nearly gone / But you’ll always be my baby / No matter where you are / You’ll always be my baby / Forever in my heart,” Alan Jackson sings.

The last of Alan Jackson’s songs released on country radio was the track, “The Older I Get.” It is also part of his “Where Have You Gone” album.

Daughters Convinced Alan Jackson to Include ‘You’ll Always Be My Baby’ on His Latest Album

If you’re happy that Alan Jackson’s song “You’ll Always Be My Baby” is included on his “Where Have You Gone” album, you have his daughters to thank.

According to Jackson his daughters – Mattie, Ali, and Dani – advised him to include the song on the album. They also advised him to include the song “I Do” as well. This song was also inspired by the wedding of one of his daughters.

“I wasn’t planning on writing another song for a wedding,” he explained on Twitter about “I Do.” “They didn’t ask me to. Ali my second daughter was getting married and it just came out one day.”

Jackson’s original plan for “You’ll Always Be My Baby” and “I Do” called for including them as “bonus tracks.”

However, his family had other ideas. They wanted the songs to appear on the album.

“I’ll be honest with you I didn’t think either (of those songs) will end up on the album,” Alan Jackson also said. “I thought they were just going to be wedding songs but they all wanted me to include it on the record.”

Luckily for fans of both songs, Jackson listened to his family.
