AMA Awards 2020: Dan + Shay Share ‘Gratitude’ to Fans on ‘Night Flight to Nashville’ After Big Wins

After a wildly successful AMAs, Dan + Shay took the “night flight back to Nashville”, and were thanking their fans all the while for their whirlwind rise.

What a night for Dan + Shay. As the only country duo to perform at the American Music Awards, the gents represented big time. Their performance of “I Should Probably Go to Bed” was stellar. Alongside Darius Rucker, they were part of a shockingly small country music representation, but that didn’t slow them down.

Dan + Shay won not one, or two but three AMAs last night! And they’re ecstatic.

Taking to Twitter awfully late (or super early), the duo was sure to get the fans in on the love.

“Hi. took the night flight back to nashville after @AMAs to be with our families, but just wanted to say we are so grateful for everything tonight,” their official Twitter states. “Not sure if anyone is awake rn, but just in case, we love y’all so much.”

Dan + Shay Win Three AMAs

So what’s all the celebration and fan love over? Those three AMA wins, of course. Unlike most awards shows, the AMAs are fan-voted, so artists’ wins come straight from those who love them most.

The 2020 American Music Awards held winners in five country music categories this past Sunday night. The Nov. 22 show saw Dan + Shay take home top awards in the Country Song category, and the Collaboration of the Year award, as well. They share both with Justin Bieber for “10,000 Hours.”

Their own award, however, comes in the form of a massive win over Florida Georgia Line and Old Dominion for Favorite Country Duo!

It is hard to discount how huge “10,000 Hours” has been for their careers, however.

The song is immensely special to Dan + Shay, as well. The duo actually performed the song at Justin Bieber’s wedding to Hailey Baldwin-Bieber.

“We sang ‘Speechless’ and then Justin jumped on stage,” Smyers tells Access Hollywood.

“We were about to release our new single ‘10,000 Hours.’ We had not ever performed it live. And he was like ‘Yo, you guys gotta sing ‘10,000 Hours’ and he’s on the song with us and it was like, ‘Uh, I don’t wanna embarrass ourselves but we don’t quite know the words,” he adds. “We’ve never sang it in front of anybody.’ We hacked our way through it. It was cool.”
