Billy Ray Cyrus Headlining Concert To Help Tennessee Flooding Victims

The recent flooding in Middle Tennessee left a trail of damage and death behind. The area is trying to recover from the storms. As part of that recovery, Billy Ray Cyrus is leading an effort to raise funds that will support victims of the tragic floods.

According to Taste of Country, Cyrus is headlining a concert that is meant to aid those in Waverly County, Tennessee, who were negatively impacted by the flooding.

During August 2021, 17 inches of rain fell on the small Tennessee town of Humphreys, Tennessee. This town is located in Waverly County, which is west of the country music hub of Nashville. In addition to property damage, the flooding tragically led to the deaths of 20 individuals.

With that damage left behind, Billy Ray Cyrus and other artists have decided to join forces for a special fundraising concert.

Tennessee Flooding Led to the Death of Someone Close to a Country Music Legend

One country music star who experienced a very personal loss due to the flooding in Middle Tennessee was icon Loretta Lynn. Sadly, Wayne Spears, the foreman of her ranch, perished during the devastating storms.

The famous Coal Miner’s Daughter publically commented on his death after it happened during August.

“With the heaviest of hearts, we are saddened to report that our beloved foreman Wayne Spears did not survive being swept up in the flood waters. …There are no words at the ranch today…only tears. Our ranch family is our family,” Lynn posted on social media. … We lost my amazing ranch foreman, Wayne in this devastating flood. He took such good care of things here on the ranch for us. He’s one of us and the whole Lynn family Is heartbroken. Please pray for his precious family and friends.”

Since the flooding, Lynn’s granddaughter, Tayla Lynn, has commented on the need for assistance in the Middle Tennessee community.

“It’s almost like you’re always in fight mode. You just keep doing stuff and trying to help. But everyone just looks like zombies, you know?” Tayla Lynn shared.
