Billy Ray Cyrus Responds to Tennessee Floods, Offers Call-to-Action for Fans

This week, the state of Tennessee has been impacted by floods. Billy Ray Cyrus wants to help those suffering and has encouraged others. The flooding has impacted multiple counties and officials are rounding resources to address the situation. While the heavy rains came down across Tennessee, Humphreys, Dickson, Houston, and Hickman counties are the most affected.

Over on Twitter, Cyrus shared a link to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Since the flooding, CFMT has activated the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund. TEMA will help those most heavily affected by the flooding.

Billy Ray Cyrus said he was, “Praying for those affected by flooding in Tennessee. Help by supporting @CFMT,” in the tweet.

So far, there have been 15 reported deaths and dozens more reported missing. Rescue teams have been going out and working to find those missing and help those in need. According to the Chief Deputy of the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, this flooding is historically bad.

“We have lost a lot of roads, both rural and major highways. In my 28 years, it’s the worst I’ve ever seen it,” said the deputy, Rob Edwards. Even with flash floods and heavy rains being a common occurrence in the eastern United States, this is unprecedented. By Saturday morning, counties in middle Tennessee received inches of rain.

Hopefully, people will donate to the organizations on the ground helping to rescue those in need. With exposure from Billy Ray Cyrus and others, CFMT and other rescue efforts will have the resources they need. While the situation seems dire, Americans are good at rallying around each other in times like these.

So, in the next few days expect to see more outreach from Cyrus and others. If you want to help you can go to CFMT’s site, here.

While Billy Ray Cyrus Prays for TN, Henri Hits the Northeast

While flooding in Billy Ray Cyrus’ home state of Tennessee has caused multiple issues over the last couple of days, Hurricane/Tropical Storm Henri moved to the northeast. New England has now been hit with flooding rain and strong winds. Many are comparing Henri to Superstorm Sandy from 2012.

Of course, Superstorm Sandy left the northeast a complete wreck. However, the impact of Henri is still not fully known. From Tennessee up to Rhode Island, thousands are without power. Thankfully, it looks like Henri has weakened as it moved inland. That provides little comfort for those impacted by the storm’s rainfall and strong winds.

By the time the storm hit Rhode Island, it was still going strong. The small state now has 100,000+ power outages. Other states in the region that were hard hit include New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Meanwhile, in New Jersey, almost 90 people have been rescued from cars. While flooding has caused issues, the strong winds have only made it worse.
