Country music fans rejoice! What promises to be a great evening of music will take place on Valentine’s Day. The purpose of the special? To show love for the Grand Ole Opry.

The event, titled “Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music,” is being held in celebration of the legendary country music institution. Making it even better is that superstars – and Grand Ole Opry members – Blake Shelton and Brad Paisley will host. The event will begin at 9 p.m. on Feb. 14 on NBC.

“Join us on the stage that started it all!” a tweet from NBC Entertainment said. The image posted as part of the tweet also included the slogan, “Country’s biggest stars on the stage that started it all!” Check out the tweet below.

Fans are clearly excited about the upcoming celebration event and to see its hosts. They shared their thoughts on Twitter in response to the tweet by NBC. “Excited for this! Blake is always so much fun!” one individual tweeted. “Yes! Can’t wait,” another said.

Anniversary Special Will Include Stories, Footage, Performances

According to the official website of the Grand Ole Opry, the special airing on Feb. 14 will run for two hours. It will include stories, interesting footage, and performances.

Why celebrate the Grand Ole Opry? Well, there are many reasons! During its 95 years in existence, it has been a cornerstone of country music and American culture. It brings together the past and the future – and celebrates both! And, according to the Opry website, the 95th anniversary special will continue that tradition.

“In that same spirit, the anniversary special brings together artists from across generations who share a passion and reverence for the Opry. With country music stars not only performing their biggest hits, but also covering classics from some of the Opry’s most famous members, it will be an unforgettable night of music,” the website states. “In addition to the incredible performances, the Opry will open its archives that span a period of over nine decades and include interviews, performances and appearances by country artists in all stages of their careers.”

It’s going to be a great night! You don’t want to miss it!

Refresh Your Country Music Knowledge Before Grand Ole Opry Special

Want to do some research on the history of country music before watching Blake Shelton and Brad Paisley host the Feb. 14 special? A great place to start is the “Country Music” documentary created by Ken Burns.

The documentary offers a very detailed look into the history of the genre. Helping Burns and his team create the project was singer Marty Stuart.

In a recent interview with the Musicians Hall of Fame Backstage, the singer recounted the making of the popular documentary. Once the singer connected with the filmmakers, he said he provided them with a list of individuals they should talk to about country music. These were people Stuart said the filmmakers “needed to talk to yesterday.”

“It was about an eight-year job to get that done,” Stuart also said of the making of “Country Music.” “But, I knew I wanted to be a part of that and I knew that country music needed it, because everything Ken does is evergreen, becomes a part of the American curriculum. …”
